Hey, all! Churning out my own RP over here, if anyone's interested. Feel free to stop by.
Rules-
1. Please be literate. From what I've seen of this wonderful forum this won't be a problem, but I'm a bit of a grammar nazi.
2. Use OOC or some form thereof.
3. Don't godmod other players or NPCs. This extends to auto-killing and auto-hitting.
4. Don't kill other players unless you have their permission. I'd like to know via PM if you plan this.
5. This is a fairly G/PG site, so keep things tame. I'll allow romance as long as it doesn't get too, er, in-depth.
6. To join, PM me your character sheet and title the message, "All Deer Must Die".
Setting-
Centuries after the cataclysm that was the Great Ruin, order has been restored to the world. Technology has elevated to a new high, allowing for crossbows and firearms. Relations between the races are peaceful, and sea trade is a major focus. Exploration and piracy abound, and under all the bustling streets and thriving wilderness lays the remnants of the world that was all those years ago...
You will be starting in the quiet Mainland port town of Haven during the christening of the Golden Fury, a top-of-the-line galleon.
Theme- Going for a mix of colonial/western themes. Pirates and sea-based action exists, but more advanced technology such as revolvers and lever-action rifles exist as well.
Plot-
Nothing worth noting, yet. I've got something in mind, but we'll just kick things off for now.
Races-
Each race has their own home island, where they are the predominate race. There are still members of other races there, however. There is also a fifth island at the center of these four that acts as a melting pot of their societies. This island is known as the Mainland.
Rabbit: Rabbits are the most common race. They are known for their hardworking nature and devotion to faith and superstition. They are a pleasant race overall, though they're sometimes seen as workaholics by other races. Home Island: Angel Island. Theme: America.
Fox: Witty and clever, foxes are a race known for their tricks, games, and parties. They are easygoing and great friends, though they are known for being a little too playful in the face of work. Foxes are also known for their drinking habits, and it is not uncommon to see a fox with a bottle of vodka in his hand. Home Island: Foxholm. Theme: Russia.
Panda: Hailing from the east, pandas are not as numerous as the other races. They are well known for their diligence and focus... As well as their frequent tendency to nap. Pandas are masters of the art of brewing, something that the foxes absolutely adore them for. Home Island: Eiji. Theme: Japan.
Cat: Cats are a fairly common race known for their propriety and sense of honor. They're intelligent and perceptive, but are often seen as snooty and arrogant. On the other hand, others are often fun-loving and clever, rivaling foxes in their liveliness. Home Island: Leondale Theme: England.
*Note that the theme is only to give a feel to the islands, and that the personality stereotypes for the races are completely separate. I'm not calling anyone any names, here. ;)
Occupations-
Occupations are a way of summarizing what it is your character can do. While you're free to make up your own (within reason of course), I've included a short list of suggestions. If you do make your own, be sure to include a short summary of what it does. I'm not allowing magic users, since it really doesn't mix with the setting.
Alchemist: You specialize in chemicals, explosives, and other strange materials, and use them frequently to answer your problems.
Bard: You're a traveling performer, be you an actor or musician. You use your wit and sharp tongue to catch your enemies off guard, letting them taste your blade after they slip.
Dashing Swordsman: You use a sword like everyone else, but you're different: You use it with style. You're well-versed in looking awesome as you fight, smashing through windows, swinging from ropes, and calling out witty retorts as you parry. You likely wield a rapier or similarly stylish weapon.
Fighter: You're tougher than the others, armed and armored to the teeth. You wield a weapon and you wield it well. Simple as that.
Gunslinger: You're a master of firearms, and wield guns with an uncanny grace. You rely solely on guns to meet your needs, and generally keep a set of revolvers holstered on your hips. If you wear a hat an duster, then you're that much more awesome.
Medic: You specialize in medicine, focusing less on combat and more on patching your friends up after they're done with it. You'll probably want a small firearm or other weapon in case you actually do have to hold your own, though.
Monk: You don't need a sword: Your body is your weapon. Your discipline can range from hours of meditation and practice to the legendary drunken master style, but the result is the same: You can hurt someone with your bare hands better than anyone else.
Ninja: You stick to the shadows, using daggers and knives to eliminate your target before they even see you. You're skilled in acrobatic maneuvers and are able to walk into combat with a focus not known to other classes.
Pirate: Your life on the high seas has taught you to be a swashbuckler, potent with a cutlass and flintlock. You use your nerves, steel, and rum to fight opponents with terrifying ferocity. You generally take their things afterwards.
Priest: You spread the word Grandfather Angel, and confront those that would stray from his path. Your arsenal consists of the Grandfather's book, sermons, holy words, and perhaps a pistol. Your special link with the Grandfather allows you to heal the faithful and smite the wicked with but a phrase.
Ranger: You're a pathfinder and marksman, able to track and kill a target faster than anyone you know. You likely use a crossbow or rifle, and wield it to the exclusion of all other weapons. A different style of ranger focuses on using two melee weapons at once, generally swords or axes.
Thief: You specialize in getting into places you shouldn't, outwitting your opponents, and taking their things. You know your locks and traps, and can pick/disassemble them within seconds. You like to use a dagger and crossbow.
