I used to drink coffee and soda all the time, but I've stopped, and now I only drink soda at restaurants, and coffee like once a year if at all.

lol the term 'soda' is so funny XD the only time it's used over here is when you say 'I want some creaming soda' (which is the actual name for the drink)
I drink sooo much soft drink. I used to drink so much more when I was younger (in summer when its really hot I used to drink 6 cans of pepsi a DAY) I've massively cut back on it though, probably drink 2 cans max a day.

Also foxes, my half sister, when she visits from england, drinks sooooooo much coffee. My mum's coffee machine (like one of them proper ones that makes latte's and stuff) gets a real work out. As well as over xmas when my gay cousin is visiting, he drinks a crapload of coffee as well. This xmas my half sister AND my gay cousin will be at my parents place... I wonder how the coffee machine will do ... lol...

lol, yea water is supposedly good for you but make sure you have salt in your diet. I saw this diet on the news that some lady was having, it was a no salt diet that you also drank 3 bottles of water for.
Now anybody who has been through highschool knows that cells intake of water is balanced by osmosis and that other thing I can't remember right now where a higher concentration of salt means water will move toward the higher concentration in order to achieve a balance of concentration.
You can guess what happened here. The salt concentration in her cells was waaaay higher than outside of them, resulting in her cells intaking MORE water than they should, which caused her brain to swell, resulting in progressive brain damage. I think it was memory loss, and early onset dementia and the woman was only in her early thirties.
True horror stories of water :P

You shouldn't consume too much salt or too less salt (the only way to make yourself 'too less salt' is by going no salt diet). 2 liters of water a day = healthy.

I love coffee. I drink from instant coffee, cappucinno, cafe's coffee, traditional Lampungness coffee, and also the famous civet/luwak/shit coffee (the beans came from civet's excrement). I only drink 0-2 glasses a day for instant coffee, and just one glass max for other types.

Oh wow, I've heard of that Civet poo coffee before... it's interesting.

And yea you're right rose, you need a good balance of different things in your diet, otherwise it can be very detrimental to your body. I would never go on a diet that cut an important thing out of my diet, like no salt, no carbohydrates, no sugar. Although in large quantities these things can be bad, in moderation they are actually required for proper body functioning. Pretty sure a no carb diet has been shown to lead to decreased brain functioning. Kinda scary D=

Don't forget this motto is NOT right:
You can't have too much of good things.

Too much medicines, too much vitamins, too much same healthy food could make you sick.
Like umm... I ate 1/2 kilograms of strawberries by myself. On normal amount, strawberries are good anti-oxidant and vitamin C, on the amount I eat, it ruin my stomach.

Salt plays a very important part in your body's function. It's what makes your urine yellow because it helps remove things like poisons and toxins from your muscles and blood. If you are having clear pee all the time it would be in your best interest go to the kitchen, grab your salt, and take a LOT with a glass of water. (I suggest you take the salt first.) This will keep your body from flushing the water "right though" your body and will make you feel better.

The other thing is, salt will help prevent things like headaches, cramps and tiredness. Also, salt plays an important part in your muscles. If your body runs out of salt through sweating for example, you will become VERY weak and won't be able to do a thing.

To make sure you are getting the amount of salt you need, salt your food to taste. If you feel like putting salt on your food, do it. Don't tell yourself this is a bad thing. Even if you take more salt than you need, your body will flush it out with your kidneys or let you know by making you feel sick in your stomach. Just make sure when consuming lots of salt that you drink water, especially if you start to feel bad in your stomach. If you don't, you may end up with things like kidney stones which can be very painful.

Do not cut back on salt intake unless you have been advised to do so specifically by a doctor. And even if your doctor says you need to cut back due to high blood pressure, you just need to work out REALLY REALLY HARD. If your sweat doesn't start to taste like water, you aren't sweating hard enough.

Sorry, I just had to throw that in there. ;)

and also the famous civet/luwak/shit coffee
Austin:Coowh! This coffee smells like shit!
Basil: It is shit, Austin.
Austin: Oh good then it's not just me.
*Drinks poo*
Austin: It's a bit nutty.

Ah pirate nice 101 on salt intake :P
I think the part about urine could be wrong though. I was taught that if you have clear pee it means youre well hydrated and it's a good thing rather than a bad one. Its why your pee is usually really yellow when you go to the toilet first thing in the morning, because you dont get up and drink water during the night so there is less water and more urea.
When your pee is clearer it is simply getting rid of any excess water that your body doesnt need, it isn't necessarily a bad thing :) Although yea like you said, if you drink water and it literally goes straight through you you probably do need a bit more salt.

Also headaches are caused by brain dehydration so it's better to drink water than eat salt :P Migraines are the ones where your brain swells, hence why they are way more painful and cause things like speech problems and photosensitivity. I think that high blood pressure causes migraines though. So I'm not sure about salt and headaches :p

I could be wrong though on either of these things.

I'm an exception, but I eat wayyyy too much sugar, salt, and carbohydrates. Although my food does end up being healthier than most people's since I cook it all myself.
