Because I'm that bored, I'm writing up Salden's story up till arriving at Befin.
You should listen to Salden's themes while reading this :D Like the first one for when he's at war and the second for when he's not fighting : /.'
I'm also writing this on the spot so I'll probably edit it later.
Chapter 1
Fiorn wasn't doing very well in life, and ending up with a child didn't help at all. If only she hadn't fallen for the man's lies, in the end he wasn't who he had appeared to be. The man even left after finding about her pregnancy. She named her son Salden, which meant keen in the ancient language. Fiorn didn't ponder much on the name, she just knew it fit.
The only man that had helped Fiorn along the way was Demen, a Panda. Fiorn didn't know much about him, just that he was a strong good willed panda. Demen was friends with Fiorn's brother, who had recently been lost to the war. Demen's wounds had pulled him out of the war, though he'd almost bounced back at a full recovery.
Fiorn brushed her hair off of the baby Salden, she cradled him in her arms and smiled, "Will you become like your grandfather?" She asked. Fiorn didn't want her son to fall to such a fate though, only for him to be as brave and valiant as her deceased father. Salden's hair was streaked with black, like his father's, a reminder that haunted Fiorn.
In the forest, the group of cats were getting ready for another raid, they'd take out the villagers, a threat to the Arduon. Perhaps the Arduon would give in to the slaying of innocents. There were about four of them, the lead cat had a scar running down his cheek. He snarled at the mother and took a torch in hand, sprinkling some water on it the herb concoction burst to flames. The cat threw it over at the mother's house.
Fiorn saw a flash in the air, and within seconds her house was aflame. In all the heat, she could only think about saving Salden. She quickly ran across the room, holding Salden. The whole house was on fire, if she ran across the house Salden would be dead. . . there was only one thing to do.
Demen spotted the smoke, he and a few others rushed in the general direction, it was in the direction of Fiorn's house, it couldn't be. . . Demen hoped for the best. As he came, it was a shock, Fiorn's house was burnt down to a crisp. only a lump in the middle of the house remained. Demen walked over to it, pulling off some burnt wood and ashes, he came to realize, Fiorn was gone.
Then came a crying noise, deep from under the rubble, under the pile was a little ditch dug up, above it, chain mail. Demen remembered seeing this hung up on Fiorn's wall, it was her father's. Demen quickly dug up the baby, it was alive and well, thanks to Fiorn's last actions. Demen took up the baby in his arms and turned away, what had caused this house to catch aflame?
